CUSTOMER RACING PROGRAMMES

Prodrive has been running touring and sports car programmes since 1987, when we first started working with BMW in the British Touring Car Championship. More recently we have had a private sports car programme for the Ferrari 550GT Maranello and have now put all this experience into our current works programme with Aston Martin Racing.

One year on from Aston Martin’s first victory in the GT1 class in 2007 – the 009 DBR9 of David Brabham, Antonio Garcia and Darren Turner claimed another GT1 win at Le Mans 2008. Just like in 2007, the 009 car – this time resplendent in the iconic Gulf livery – took the class victory at the La Sarthe circuit.

The second factory Aston Martin DBR9, 007, finished fourth in class thanks to an excellent drive from Heinz-Harald Frentzen, Andrea Piccini and Karl Wendlinger. The privateer DBR9 of Team Modena finished eighth in the GT1 class.

The double triumph at Le Mans came just two years after the car’s winning debut at the 12 Hours of Sebring in 2005.

Aston Martin Racing has also supplied the DBR9 to numerous private teams who have won international sports car series, including the FIA GT Championship and the Le Mans Series.

In 2005, Aston Martin Racing developed the DBRS9, also based on the DB9 road car, but built to FIA GT3 regulations. Like the DBR9, this car is competing in the hands of private teams in international and national sports car series.

The Vantage GT2 was introduced to the Aston Martin Racing stable in 2008 and is joined by the Vantage GT4 for the 2009 race season.

Aston Martin Racing is the only manufacturer to offer cars in every GT racing category.
